I’m Julia Manfre, the founder of Self-Care Solutions, LLC. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, blogger, and podcaster who has a passion for teaching women how to practice self-care. I grew up wanting to be Wonder Woman. Ok, I confess, I still want to be Wonder Woman, but I grew up wanting to save women and as a therapist, I do help women save themselves.
I have created the Self-Care Solutions, and the Self-Care Course to teach women the skills and tools that I did not have growing up, but so desperately needed. I did not learn these skills until going to graduate school, getting a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health, then working as a therapist. I quickly learned that very few people have been taught these skills either.
Self-care is sooo important to me because self-care is such a struggle. It is so rare that I run across a woman who actually takes care of herself and it is even more rare to find a mom who takes care of herself. We are usually too busy trying to be perfect and taking care of the rest of the world that we don’t have the time or energy to take care of ourselves.
Why is this ok? IT’S NOT OK!!! Ok…that was a little dramatic, but it’s so true. It’s not ok that we don’t take care of ourselves. We get mixed messages. We are told to take care of ourselves, but when we do, we get grief from everyone around us. What they are really saying is that you should take care of yourself as long as it does not inconvenience me and that you get everything else done. Wrong, wrong, wrong. We need to make ourselves a priority. We are important. Let me repeat… WE ARE IMPORTANT.
I’m done with my rant, but seriously, self-care is important and you deserve a happy, healthy, peaceful life filled with whatever brings you joy and gives you energy.
